TGDG Big Bang 1: Understanding Magmatic Controls of Mineral Deposits Mini-Symposium - Introduction and Overview
The Toronto Geological Discussion Group (TGDG) is pleased to present: The Big Bang: Understanding Magmatic Controls of Mineral Deposits, a mini-symposium discussing the controls on magmatic mineral deposits. This mini-symposium brings together current ideas and recent work related to the core controls of individual ore deposits and mineralizing systems. The three deposit types covered in the mini-symposium remain the focus of mining and exploration in Canada.
Experts in each of the three deposit types address how magmatism influences the architecture of the mineralizing systems and to what extent magmas are the direct source of metal in the deposits. A more applied perspective is also presented in this mini-symposium by exploration geologists who have integrated and evolved these academic ideas through their own work.
This video provides an introduction to the mini-symposium and an overview of the topics covered in the other sessions. Recorded on April 19, 2016.
