The role of government and industry in maximizing the value of pre-competitive data in exploration
This video explores the many benefits for governments and industry of publishing open geoscience data sets on spatially-enabled web portals. When pre-competitive data is easily searchable using spatial areas of interest, geoscientists are empowered with a cost-effective asset that can be modelled, analyzed, and interpreted by companies engaging in prospecting activities and early stage exploration. The presenters demonstrate the value of easy access to open geoscience data with recent examples of mineral prospectivity maps and regional 3D geophysical models that enriched exploration projects in various parts of the world.
Recorded at the Geosoft booth as part of the 2017 Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) conference (Sunday, March 5, 2017).
