How to: Extract an Isosurface from a Voxel

|

Problem:

I have updated my Geosoft application and can no longer find the option to extract an isosurface from a voxel. Where can this function be accessed from?

Environment:

Oasis montaj v7.1, Target v7.1+ and Target for ArcGIS v3.1+

Solution:

A new Geosoft 3D Viewer was developed for the v7.1 release (v3.1 for Target for ArcGIS). The option to extract an isosurface from a voxel is now found within the 3D Viewer.

To extract an isosurface from a voxel:

  1. 3D menu > Create a New 3D View.
  2. Enter a name for Map name > click OK.
  3. Add to 3D menu > Isosurface...
  4. Browse to the voxel file to use for Voxel file.
  5. Specify the Surface Value to use.
  6. Select the Colour for the isosurface > click OK.
The isosurface will be displayed within the 3D Viewer. You can add additional data groups such as voxels, grids, etc. to the 3D model.
