How To: Copy a projection from one grid to another

Problem/Symptom:
User wants to copy an existing projection from one grid to another, without creating
a map.

Environment:
This resolution applies specifically to Oasis Montaj and Target v7.0, but can be applied to older versions as well.

Resolution:

In Oasis Montaj:

a) Open the grid you want to apply the projection to.
b) Go to Grid and Image > Utilities > Modify Projection for Grid File(s).
c) Choose the grid (or grids) and type is Geosoft (or other).
d) Click Next, and then in the Coordinate System box, choose 'Copy from...'.
e) Click OK to finish.
f) You can also use Grid and Image > Properties. Run a report on the grid you want to apply the projection to, click Next > Modify > Coord Sys, and follow step d above.

In Target:

a) Open the grid you want to apply the projection to.
b) Go to Grid and Image > Properties. Run a report on the grid you want to apply the projection to, click Next > Modify > Coord Sys.
c) In the Coordinate System box, choose 'Copy from...'.
