How To: Export/convert a Geosoft Database to an ArcGIS Shapefile

|

Problem/Symptom:
How can I convert a Geosoft Database (*.gdb) to an ArcGIS Shapefile (*.shp)?

Environment:
This resolution applies to Oasis Montaj and Target v7.0, as well as Target for ArcGIS v3.0.

Resolution:

In Oasis Montaj or Target:

1) With your GDB open in Oasis Montaj or Target, go to Database > Export > Shape File(s).

2) If you wish to export your Drillhole Project to SHP files, in Target go to DH-Data > Export > SHP File.

In Target for ArcGIS:

1) First, you need to open the database you want to convert to a shapefile. To do this, go to Geosoft Data > Open Geosoft database. Open the GDB Viewer to display the current database, as the following step will only export the current GDB to SHP.

2) Go to Target Surface > Import Data > Geosoft Database. Although this may not sound like the correct function, this function will actually convert your current GDB to a SHP file, and display it on the current ArcGIS layer.

3) If you wish to export your current Target for ArcGIS drillhole project to shapefiles, use Data (from the 'Target Drillhole' toolbar) > Export > SHP file.
