How To: Change the scale of a finished map

Symptom/Problem:
Can I change the scale of a finished map?

Environment:
Applies to all versions of Oasis Montaj and Target.

Resolution:
It is not possible to change the scale of a map once it is created. You need to recreate the map to change the scale. A quick work-around is to create a new blank map, with the desired scale. Then copy and paste the Views (Data and Base) from the original map to the new map. This will save you the time of re-creating all the maps groups (layers).

To copy/paste the Views from the original map to the new map:

1. Select the 'incorrect scale' map. Open the view/group manager and select the 'Data' view (it will be highlighted). You can also use the Map View Mode button to select your Data view.

2. Then, right-click on the map (in Map View Mode), and select Copy.

3. Then, move to the 'new' blank map, and right-click on the map and select Paste Georeferenced.

4. Repeat the 3 steps above for the 'Base' view and any other views if they are present. Note that, for a Base View, you should not choose Paste Georeferenced, you should use Paste instead.
