How To: Add a polygon mask(s) to the Data View on a map for masking of groups
Problem/Symptom:
User would like to mask out certain Groups in the Data View using a Polygon Mask.
Environment:
The following steps apply to both Oasis montaj v7.0 and Target v7.0.
Resolution
NOTE: In order to add a polygon mask to a map you'll need a Geosoft Polygon File (*.PLY). PLY files can be created using numerous methods. For the steps to create a polygon file see the following FAQ article http://www.geosoft.com/support/faq/2008/03/how-to-create-geosoft-polygon.asp
1) Once you have created the PLY file(s) go to Map Tools > Masking > Add/Replace Group Mask.
2) Select a PLY file for the Clip Polygon parameter and select the Data View and press Next.
3) Give the Group Mask a name. It is recommended that you name the Group Mask the same name as the PLY file to avoid confusion.
4) If you would like to mask all the Groups in the Data View set this parameter to "Yes". If you would like to select which Groups in the Data View to mask set this parameter to "No". Press Finish.
5) To toggle a polygon mask on or off select a Group in the View Group Manager Tool and then select a polygon mask in the Mask to Group Region.
