How To: Reverse the colours in a colour table

|

Environment:
Oasis montaj and Target, all versions.

Symptom/Problem:
User would like to reverse the colours in a predefined colour table.

Resolution:

1) Locate the appropriate *.TBL, *.ZON, or *.LUT file from the C:\Program Files\Geosoft\Oasis montaj (or Target)\tbl directory.

Note: If you open and edit a colour table file (tbl, zon, or lut) directly from this directory, you will lose the original file. It is best to create a copy of the file, so that you can use the original if required. You can quickly create a copy of one of the files by right-clicking > Copy, and right-clicking again > Paste in the same location.

2) Open the *.tbl, *.zon, or *.lut file in Excel (right-click > Open With..., and choose Microsoft Excel).

3) In Excel, select all of the data and sort it ascending or descending, depending on the current colour order of data (Data > Sort). You should not sort any header information that exists in the file.

4) Save the file, ensuring that you specify the file's extension as *.tbl, *.zon, or *.lut.

5) To use the newly created colour table file, open the Image Colour Tool for a grid and click the [Load from File] button. Choose the newly created file and click [Open].

6) You can also use these colour tables when displaying a grid on a map. Make sure to choose 'Default' as the Colour method (so that your colour table is not overwritten by the GX, and make sure to choose your new colour table.
