Drillhole traces on a section map are curved. This does not reflect the data correctly
Symptom/Problem:
The user's drillhole traces appear as curves as opposed to straight lines in the section map. What is happening?
Environment:
Target and Target for ArcGIS, all versions.
Resolution:
In Target, go to DH-Data | Preferences and change the Resurveying Method to "Straight Segments". Refresh the extents (DH-Data | Refresh Extents), and then plot the section again. The curved drillhole traces should appear straighter.
In Target for ArcGIS, the Resurveying Method option is found under Target Project | Preferences; the refresh extents option is found under Data | Refresh Extents.
Root Cause:
This curvature is related to the option that is chosen as the resurveying method. The default value for the resurveying method is "Radius of Curvature", which causes the drillhole to be plotted with a single endpoint, resulting in a curved hole. Changing the Resurveying Method to "Straight Segments" will result in Target assuming that the hole continues in a straight line between the survey locations.
