Geosoft mapping software for geophysics, geology, geochemistry

What are the extras on the Resources CD I got with Oasis Montaj\Target version 7.0?

|

Problem/Symptom:
I recieved a grey Resources CD with my new version of Geosoft software. I do not understand what this CD is for, and am having difficulty identifying all of the contents on this disk.

Environment:
This resolution applies to users that are upgrading to Oasis Montaj\Target v7.0, and have recieved the new CD in the mail and are wishing to install the new version.

Resolution:
Here are further details pertaining to the contents of the Installs and extraInstalls folders found on the Resources CD.

Installs:
GX Developer: A programming kit for advanced users who wish to create their own custom GXs. Please note we cannot offer technical support on custom-built gxs, although you may wish to arrange some training with one of our Technical Analysts

Oasis Montaj Viewer: You can provide this free viewer to your clients to enable them to view your processed Geosoft data. The stripped down version of Oasis Montaj allows the user to view Geosoft database (.gdb), grid (.grd) and map (.map) files.

Plug-in for ArcGIS: The Geosoft plug-in for ArcGIS enables you to view Geosoft grids and maps as layers in ArcMap. You can also retrieve data from Geosoft DAP servers. This plug-in is different from our Target for ArcGIS product (which enables you to work with Geosoft data in ESRI's ArcMap), and the two should not be run on the same system.

Plug-in for MapInfo: Enables you to view and use Geosoft grids (.grd), shaded grids, and Geosoft Map (.map) files in MapInfo. You can also retrieve data from Geosoft DAP servers.

Extrainstalls:
Acrobat: Install this so you can view your Geosoft 3D data in Adobe's Acrobat Viewer. You will have to export your Geosoft data to pdf format first though.

ArcGIS 9xECWPlugin: The ArcGIS 9xECWPlugin is for users who wish to view ECW files in ArcGIS

dotNET2.0(x64): You will only need this if you run XP 64 bit. It installs Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 on a Windows XP 64 bit OS.

MATLAB: We use Matlab installer in our Depth to Basement module

XPDatabaseFix: Microsoft Windows has files with a .gdb extension, which can cause confusion with our own database gdb files. You may need to run the georestore.exe program if you ever do a System Restore on your computer. The program will simply exclude the GDB extension from your Windows System Restore list, to avoid problems opening Geosoft databases following a system restore. If you experience long delays in opening a database or Geosoft project, run the georestore.exe.
