Error Message: "The system date has been set back. Please restore it to the correct date. All licenses will be disabled until the correct system time is restored".

Problem/Symptom:
The following error message occurs when starting the program: "The system date has been set back. Please restore it to the correct date. All licenses will be disabled until the correct system time is restored".


Environment:
All Geosoft software packages which require a license to run. Oasis montaj, Target and Target for ArcGIS


Resolution
Close the program and set your system date to the correct date and time. Then update your license by going to Start | Program | Geosoft | software package | License | Update. This will connect you to the Geosoft License Server and verify that your system date has been set correctly and unlock the license.

Alternatively:
1. Park the license, and then go to C:\Program Files\Geosoft\Oasis montaj\user\lic and delete all of the files there.

2. Do a search on your computer (Start > Search). Search for All Files and Folders that were modified between today's date and Dec 31/2099:

3. If you find files that were modified "in the future", remove/delete these (or place them somewhere on the network off your computer).

Once there are no files that have been modified "in the future", our licensing system should pick up that you have not moved your computer date forward.

4. Now setup your license (Start > All Programs > Geosoft > Oasis Montaj > License > Setup) and see if it works, and if you can open Oasis.

Root Cause
This error occurs when a change has been made to the computer's system clock. The time and date (to within a few hours) are checked by the Geosoft license server, and if there are inconsistencies, the error above results.
