How To: Set the projection of a Geosoft GDB

|

Problem/Symptom:
How can I set the projection for a Geosoft GDB?

Environment:
Oasis montaj, and Target

Resolution
1) Select the GDB in the Project Explorer and verify the X,Y channels are set by going to Coordinates | Set Current XYZ Coordinates. Once the channels are defined as the current X,Y Channels, they will be marked in the GDB with a blue X or Y Channel Marker.
2) Go to Coordinates | Set Projection and click [Projection].
3) In the Coordinate System window enter the required projection information and click [OK].

Additional Info:
Projected (x,y): View or define a projected coordinate system. The units of length in a projected coordinate system are linear (i.e. not degrees). A projected coordinate system contains units, a datum, an optional local datum transform, and a projection method that projects the location on the spherical (ellipsoidal) system onto a plane.

Geographic (long, lat): View or edit a geographical coordinate system. A geographical coordinate system is specified in angular units (always degrees) and specifies a location on the earth. It is specified by its datum, and, optionally, by a local datum transform.
