Error Message: "The Update Service does not recognize this product. Please contact your software vendor for updates to this product. Error 13003: Version Not Registered with the Update Service."

Symptom/Problem:
User is getting an error checking for updates when they go to Help | Check for Updates and are therefore unable to update their software.

"The Update Service does not recognize this product. Please contact your software vendor for updates to this product. Error 13003: Version Not Registered with the Update Service."

Environment:
This resolution applies to any version of Oasis montaj and Target that users are trying to update. Please note that an update from v6.4.2 to v7.0 is not an option online.

Resolution:

There are a few options:

  1. Go to http://www.geosoft.com/support/updates/oasismontaj.asp and check for/download updates there. Ensure that you download the "Update" file, not the "Full" file.
  2. With Oasis montaj closed, go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService and delete 4 files: _isusres.dll, agent.exe, ISDM.exe, and issch.exe. Once you've deleted these files, reopen Oasis montaj and allow the installation to be repaired. Try checking for updates once this process is complete.

Root Cause:
Your computer is not connecting to the Geosoft Updates Server for an unknown reason. This could be due to your firewall or proxy settings.
