Summary of Geosoft License Manager Actions

Geosoft eLicensing is organized through the Geosoft License server. All of the eLicenses reside on the License server and can be retrieved by using the "Setup" function in the Geosoft License Manager (explained in detail below). An eLicense provided to you by Geosoft can be installed and used on only one computer at any given time.

The following Geosoft License Manager options allow you to manage your eLicense. To use the Geosoft License Manager, go to Start | All Programs | Geosoft | Oasis montaj/Target/Target for ArcGIS [whichever Geosoft Product(s) you currently have installed]| License; here you will see all of the options described below.

Options

Displays the Internet Options dialog, in which you have the option to change the HTTP Style, Proxy Address and Proxy Port
(NOTE: you must have the Proxy Address and Port of your company's proxy server if you are behind one)
Changes the user's internet options such that they are able to connect to the Geosoft eLicense Server correctly - frequently, changing the HTTP Style from Compliant to Standard (or vice versa depending on the current) setting will solve the problem. Most of the time these options need not be changed.

Lock

Locks the eLicense on the current computer - user is unable to move or manage the eLicense until it is unlocked; software is still functional.
Mainly used by administrators managing a number of eLicenses; used to control and restrict movement of eLicenses to prevent misuse and loss

Park

Places the currently installed eLicense on the Geosoft eLicense Server.
Parking the eLicense allows the same eLicense to be installed on a different computer. Requires internet connection; the quickest and easiest method for moving a license from one computer to another

Setup

Allows the user to install the eLicense after it is created or parked

Transfer

Moves the eLicense to another computer ID when one or both of the computers are not connected to the internet; a file called OasisMontaj_Transfer.geosoft_license will be created on your C: drive by default. You will need some type of media to move this file from the first computer to the second.

Unlock

Unlocks the eLicense from the computer using the license key

Update

Refreshes the eLicense after it has been modified by Geosoft

View

Allows the eLicense key owner to view the eLicense information, including support expiry date, license key, user name and company; cannot be used if the eLicense is locked

View Computer ID

Allows the user to view the computer ID - this will change each time a eLicense is installed but is required information for a eLicense transfer.
