How To: Install a Geosoft license offline

Problem:
How can a user install a Geosoft license without an internet connection?

Environment:
Applicable to all Geosoft Products which require a valid license key to run. e.g Oasis montaj, Target and Target for ArcGIS

Resolution:
For field locations where internet connections are impossible, or when there is a firewall/proxy blocking connection to the Geosoft License Server, we use the Offline license key method:

• - You request an Offline license from us.
• - Geosoft creates an Offline license file which can be delivered to you via email or a CD in the mail.
• - You take this Offline license file with you to the field location along with the software installation CD. Or, if you have simply had internet connection issues, place the file on your computer.
• - Once you have arrived, you install the software (if this is the route you have taken). Regardless of your reason, with the offline license file you will need to contact one of our support representatives (tech@geosoft.com or 416-369-0111) to activate the license.
1. Unzip the attached file to an easily accessible folder (your desktop for example).
2. RIGHT click on the file (Offline.Geosoft_license) - Choose the "Install License
3. Phone or Email back and report the License Key and Computer's ID displayed
4. We will then give you the Offline Installation Key. Type this key into the space provided.
5. Your software is ready to use.
