Error Message: "Error 2709: Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Configuration.dll", when attempting to upgrade software
Symptom/Problem:
User recieves error message when attempting to install Oasis montaj 6.4 Update or Target 6.4 Update. "Error 2709:Microsoft.Pracitices.EnterpriseLibrary.Configuration.dll".
- May also apply to other upgrades (e.g. upgrading to v6.4.1 or v6.4.2).
Environment:
This resolution applies to users attempting to upgrade to version 6.4 in Oasis montaj/Target by installing the 6.4 Update Patch downloaded off the Geosoft website. May also apply to users attempting to upgrade to 6.4.1 or 6.4.2.
Resolution:
Upgrade the current installation to version 6.3.1 first, followed by the upgrade to 6.4. Both upgrade patches can be downloaded from the Geosoft website. You can also use Help > Check for Updates.
Note: You can check the current version you have installed by going to Help > About Oasis montaj (or Target).
Another option would be to remove the software from the computer using the Add/Remove Program tools in the Control Panel and then download and install version 6.4 Full off the Geosoft website at http://www.geosoft.com/downloads/.
Root Cause:
User is attempting to install the 6.4 Update Patch without having version 6.3.1 installed. The 6.4 update Patch will only install when upgrading from version 6.3.1 to version 6.4. This occurs because all upgrades must be made in incremental steps.
For example, if you wish to upgrade to v6.4.2 and you currently have v6.4 installed, you first need to upgrade to v6.4.1, and then to v6.4.2.
The Geosoft versions (Oasis montaj and Target): 6.0 > 6.0.1 > 6.1 > 6.2 > 6.3 > 6.3.1 > 6.4 > 6.4.1 > 6.4.2 > 7.0.
