I installed Target for ArcGIS and now my Target menus have disappeared from ArcMap

Problem/Symtpom:
I recently installed Target for ArcGIS, but now I can't see or use any of the Target menus in ArcMap. All of the Target menus have disappeared from the toolbar area, and when you select them to add them back, I get a Microsoft Windows error, and ArcMap closes ("ArcMap has encountered a problem and needs to close...").

Similarly:
I recently installed the Geosoft Plugin for ArcGIS and now I've lost all of my Target and Plugin menus in ArcMap, and ArcMap closes unexpectedly.

As well:
Get errors stating that you cannot install Target for ArcGIS/Geosoft Plugin for ArcGIS because the other is already installed, and you cannot install both at the same time.

Environment:
This resolution applies to any version of Target for ArcGIS or the Geosoft Plugin for ArcGIS.

Resolution:
The problem here is that you cannot have Target for ArcGIS and the Geosoft Plugin for ArcGIS installed at the same time.

If you already had the Geosoft Plugin for ArcGIS installed, and have installed Target for ArcGIS, and wish to use Target for ArcGIS.
1) Uninstall the Plugin using Add/Remove Programs.
2) Repair the Target for ArcGIS installation using Add/Remove Programs (click on Change > Repair > Install).
3) Reload the Target for ArcGIS menus in ArcMap.
4) If that fails, uninstall and reinstall Target for ArcGIS.

If you already had Target for ArcGIS installed, and have installed the Geosoft Plugin for ArcGIS, and wish to use the Plugin.
1) Uninstall Target for ArcGIS using Add/Remove Programs.
2) Repair the Plugin for ArcGIS installation using Add/Remove Programs (click on Change > Repair > Install).
3) Reload the Plugin for ArcGIS menus in ArcMap.
4) If that fails, uninstall and reinstall the Plugin.

If all else fails, it is recommended that you uninstall both the Plugin and Target for ArcGIS, and then install whichever program you wish to run.

Root Cause:
The Geosoft Plugin for ArcGIS and Target for ArcGIS have been installed on the same machine. In order to use either, only one of these can be installed.

This problem occurs because both programs use similar functionality, and were never built to be installed at the same time.

On a side note, Target for ArcGIS has all the functionality of the Plugin for ArcGIS, and the Plugin is intended for non-licensed users. It is recommended that if you have Target for ArcGIS, you uninstall the Plugin prior to installing Target for ArcGIS.
