How To: Plot peak locations from a database profile directly to a map

|

Problem/Symptom:
Can I plot peak locations from a database profile directly to a map?

Basically, I have a database (GDB) with a profile. It has peaks on it. I want to select those peaks, and plot those locations on a map, without having to note the XY position, go to my map, and manually plot a symbol to that location.

Environment:
This resolution applies to any version of Oasis Montaj or Target.

Resolution:
This can be done fairly easily.
1) Right-click in the profile window and choose Target Selection Options from the drop-down menu (digitprofopt.gx).
2) Choose your Targets list - this will be the name of your new group in your GDB. Choose the channel to save the values from. You can then decide to plot on the current map or not.
3) When you've set up the options, click OK.
4) On the profile, click on one of your peaks. Right-click and choose Select Target (digitprof.gx).
5) This peak will now be placing in your Targets group in your GDB (i.e. a separate line). If you chose to plot to current map it will do so at this point.
6) Otherwise, go to your Targets group, and you can use any of the Mapping Symbol plotting functions (perhaps a location plot) to plot up these locations on a map.
