About this Release

Geochemistry for ArcGIS v2.1 Service Pack 2 (SP2) resolves the following two new issues:

  • The Drillhole QA QC tool was reporting invalid depth values.
  • Importing Datamine DM files caused an error message & the files were not imported correctly.

Service Pack 2 also includes all the fixes applied in Service Pack 1:

  • Geosoft grid support for ArcGIS 10 is implemented via a GDAL driver. Incompatibility between the Microsoft libraries that Geosoft used to link this driver and those that ArcGIS 10 ships with caused intermittent memory corruption and instability in ArcGIS.
  • An issue in the Geochemistry for ArcGIS 2.1 extension disabled the context menu that would appear when right-clicking on the Data or Layout View in ArcMap.

How to apply the service pack

You are not required to have Service Pack 1 installed prior to installing Service Pack 2. The instructions below explain how to update through your software for different versions of the software. If you are unable to update through your software, you can download the offline update at the top of the page.

If you are running Geochemistry for ArcGIS v2.1 or v2.1 SP1:

  1. Close ArcMap and any other ArcGIS applications that are open
  2. Start menu > All Programs > Geosoft > Extensions for ArcGIS > Check for Updates
This will update your software to Geochemistry for ArcGIS v2.1 SP2 (and Target for ArcGIS v3.3 SP2 if you are licensed for both extensions).

If you are running Geochemistry for ArcGIS v2.0.1:

  1. Close ArcMap and any other ArcGIS applications that are open.
  2. Start menu > All Programs > Geosoft > Extensions for ArcGIS > Check for Updates.
This will update your software to Geochemistry for ArcGIS v2.1 (and Target for ArcGIS v3.3 if you are licensed for both extensions).
  3. Again, go to Start menu > All Programs > Geosoft > Extensions for ArcGIS > Check for Updates .
This will update your software to Geochemistry for ArcGIS v2.1 SP2 (and Target for ArcGIS v3.3 SP2 if you are licensed for both extensions).

Note: The same service pack updates both Target for ArcGIS and Geochemistry for ArcGIS.  It is your license key that determines which extension(s) you can use.
