Target 6.4 Release NotesJanuary 22, 2007Updating your softwareWhat's new in Target 6.4Previous release notesHow to update your softwareInstallation InstructionsBefore you install you'll need Microsoft .NET 2.0Target 6.4 requires Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 to be installed. You will not be able to upgrade using the patches until .NET 2.0 is installed. Click here to download Microsoft .NET 2.0 The .NET Framework is also available on the Target 6.4 CD in the extra installs folder. How to install Target 6.4To download and install the new release online:All maintained users can upgrade online in Target. On the Help menu in Target, click Check for updates and follow the instructions on the dialog boxes as they appear. To download and then install the 6.4 release offline:Go to the Target updates page and download the Target 6.4 Update. Unzip and run the exe file. Follow the instructions on the dialogs as they appear. The offline file for 6.4 is very large (190 MB) and may take some time to download. Target 6.4What's new in Target 6.4?Target 6.4 is a major release that includes many new features, 3D enhancements and bug fixes. Powerful voxel extraction toolsExtract your section grids and your plan gridsYou can now extract section and plan grids more easily. These new tools allow you to extract multiple vertical or horizontal grids from your voxels and view and manipulate your data in a 2D or 3D environment. Voxel Section ExtractorVertical section grids may be extracted from a voxel. Sections may be extracted based on the selected lines defined in your database or interactively based on a line digitized on a map. The sections may have any azimuth. Voxel Depth Slice ExtractorsHorizontal plan grids may be extracted from a voxel at a specified elevation. Elevation grids at specific elevations may be extracted one at a time. Multiple elevation grids may also be extracted given the start elevation and a specified depth increment. Plot Isosurface toolGenerate 3D views of isosurfaces from your voxelsGeosoft's new Plot Isosurface tool is a valuable visualization tool that displays isosurfaces from your 3D grids, enabling you to gain a better understanding of geological formations. Create many isosurfaces, each with a unique colour. Anisotropic 3D griddingEnhanced 3D gridding functionalityThe addition of anisotropic voxel and spherical gridding capabilities adds easy-to-access value to what you can learn about targets in their 3D environment. You can grid in your preferred direction. Specify the strike, dip and plunge, and preferred weighting to create more meaningful 3D grids that honour the data and preferentially enhance trends in the specified direction. 3D SpinningThe 3D viewer now supports spinning. The mouse is used to define the rotation direction and speed. The model will spin until another click of the mouse. Zooming and layer controls may be used while the view is rotating. Z dimension option in Voxel GriddingWhen creating 3D grids, the Z dimension may now be specified and may be different from the X and Y dimensions. By default, the voxel cell sizes in the Z direction are the same as the dimensions for the X and Y directions. Automated Map Sheets
Easily produce multiple map sheetsNow, with Automated Map Sheets it's faster and easier to generate multiple map sheets from a regional map covering a large data area. Geoscientists who make a series of maps that require consistency will appreciate the ability to easily apply a single map template to multiple maps. Map Snapshot Tool
Quickly go back to areas of interest and preview new data as new data arrivesThe new Map Snapshot tool enables you to 'bookmark' any areas of interest. Making it easy to go back and review potential targets. Once you take a Map Snapshot of the location, it's embedded in your file, making it easy to share with your colleagues. ArcGIS Layer File SupportEasily display ArcView layer (.lyr) filesIf you're an ArcView user, you will appreciate that your maps now look the same whether you're viewing them in ArcView, in Oasis montaj or in Target. As you zoom or pan the layers will redraw, allowing you to see them exactly the same as you would in ArcView. Imports GOCAD surface data filesSurface files created in GOCAD can now be displayed within our 3D subsurface environment. New Collar plottingUpgrades and a new tab provides additional plotting optionsA new Collars Tab has been added and has three main selections for collar symbols: Fixed, Zone and Classified. This provides more flexibility in the collar display of your surfaces and sections. Strike – Dip SymbolsGeologists can now easily plot strike –dip symbols on maps. Given a database with an X, Y, Strike, and Dip channel, a user can plot standard strike-dip symbols at each location to visually represents the strike and dip angles. An appropriate legend is automatically created. Auto Re-colour OptionThis toggle button enables the user to automatically recolour the displayed grid area as the grid extents change within a map window. When this toggle is selected, each time a map is zoomed or panned, the full range of colours is used in the display. This is useful for examining areas of interest. Import EMFAdded support for the import of EMF files into maps. Vertical scale lines in Profile windowA new option in the database profile window that displays vertical scale lines in the profile window. These reference lines make it easier to determine the size of your field of view when zooming in on specific anomalies. These lines will be present in any profile plots that are created. Help ButtonTo conform to the latest Microsoft guidelines we have changed the help button in our GX dialogs to a '?' button at the top of the dialog window. This has not altered the way the help system has been working. General Look and FeelThere are some minor changes to the look and feel of the dialogs and other toolbars within Target. Some .NET dialogs will reflect this with yellow Stars to indicate required fields. A red exclamation mark will indicate to a user if these fields are blank when a user tries to run the dialog. CDI Grid Ribbon OptionWe have added support for a ribbon section grid based on a CDI database. The ribbon plot option allows users to create a grid along the actual path of the data. Target extensionsGeochemistryMath Expression Support in scatter plotsWith fewer steps you can be more efficient. Now, scatter plots directly support Math Expressions reducing the number of steps to display your data in XY plots and tri-plots. Leaving you more time to interpret your geochemistry data. The multiple scatter plots (CHMSCAT. gx) now has the option to colour the symbols from a colour zone based upon a third channel. < back |
