The main feature of the Euler3D upgrade is a new “Located Euler” method. This new method is based on our UX-Detect methodology where an analytic signal grid is first generated. From this grid, targets are identified using a peak picking routine. Euler solutions are then calculated for each identified target. The original or “Standard Euler” method will remain in the application. Users have a choice between the two methods. Users licensed to Euler 3D will automatically receive the new method.
Both Euler methods make use of a user selectable “Mask” channel (as in other applications). Channel names have been altered for better clarity (especially when comparing the two methods). Solution sets now are written to a new “group” line in the specified output database, instead of overwriting the entire solutions database each time.
The Array Channel Upgrade is comprised of a number of improvements to Oasis montaj’s ability to import, manipulate and visualize array channel information. Some of the improvements are:
The new array capabilities will be available to users based on their current license. Most of the new features only require a processing engine license, which will cover all licensed users. *However, the array filtering tools require users to be licensed for the “Basic 1D Filtering Tool”.
A gradient gridding option has been added to BIGRID enabling horizontal gradient data to be gridded. This option will be available to any user who is currently licensed to use BIGRID and the “Advanced Gridding Toolkit”.
Gridding without the cross-line gradient will interpolate the smoothest surface that honors the data along each line. However, gridding with the cross-line gradient will produce a surface that both honor the data and the measured gradient at each line. This can produce very much-improved gridded surfaces, especially for features that approach the line separation in size.
The GM-SYS Depth to Basement - Analytic Signal GX (anasig.gx), computes Analytic Signal depth solutions from magnetic (or gravity) profiles. The input profiles are interpolated to an even sample interval using the standard Oasis spline function before processing. The sample interval is the total profile length divided by the number of points in the profile. Therefore, profiles with large gaps should be split into multiple lines.
For noisy input profiles, the results can be improved significantly by filtering the input anomaly and gradient data. The Depth to Basement - Analytic Signal GX uses a Fast Fourier Transform technique to calculate the horizontal derivative if the input gradient channel is not specified.
Northwest Geophysical Associates (NGA), a GPP member, has developed GM-SYS and it's associated tools to work within the Oasis montaj software platform.
