2008 release is arriving soon!

Geosoft clients with maintenance licenses will receive their 2008 update CDs in late February. The 2008 release is available by CD only.

The 2008 release includes many performance and interface improvements that give you greater flexibility and control in achieving the quality results you need.

New features include:

• embedded ESRI ArcEngine technology within the Geosoft platform for effortless data sharing
• more 3D capabilities to create and display subsurface geology as 3D geology voxels and geological surfaces
• ability to find, view, and extract data from internal and public data servers using Dapple globe viewer

Windows Vista compatibility

Geosoft clients are successfully running Oasis montaj and Target on the Windows Vista operating system; we have addressed all reported issues and are working toward full compatibility.

Geosoft expects offer full Windows Vista support with our next scheduled service pack, in mid-2008.

Math Expression Builder

The new Math Expression builder helps leverage the power of the math engine by making it easier to create and use math expressions.

To build a simple expression to subtract two channels, you can:

• enter the channel names and create my expression
• use channel variables and select the channels from the dropdown lists

The math expression builder has many functions, including:

• Frequently used (Logical, Logs, and Exponents)
• Trigonometric functions
• Date functions
• Time functions

You can load saved expressions in channel, grid, and voxel math tools to build large, complex expressions easily.

FAQ

Can I open workspace files (*.gws) in Oasis montaj 7.0?

Project files (*.gpf) have replaced workspace files (*.gws) in Oasis montaj.

You can convert workspace files used in Oasis montaj prior to version 6 by opening them:

1. Select File > Project >Open > File of Type as Workspaces (*.gws).
2. To convert the workspace into a new Oasis montaj project file, select Yes when prompted.
3. Oasis montaj converts the workspace file to a project file and transfers all associated workspace information to the new project file. The workspace file remains untouched, so that you can open it in previous versions.
