NGA’s GMSYS-3D scheduled for release in early 2004

GMSYS-3D is a new 3D gravity and magnetic modeling package for surface-oriented models. Each model is defined by a number of stacked surface grids with a given density or susceptibility (either constant or laterally-varying) distribution between each pair of surfaces.

The package is designed to run under Oasis montaj™, leveraging the power and versatility of the Oasis environment and making GMSYS-3D a very cost-effective tool. Anyone familiar with the Oasis user interface will feel at home using GMSYS-3D.

GMSYS-3D Capabilities include:

  • Model Size: GMSYS-3D has no limits on the size or number of layers in models. Layers in model can be represented by a constant density (and/or susceptibility), a laterally-varying grid of densities (and/or susceptibilities), or a density-depth (and/or susceptibility-depth) table.
  • Inversion: GMSYS-3D has the capability to invert on both structure (i.e., layer geometry) and on layer physical properties (density or susceptibility).
  • Model Editing: GMSYS-3D includes interactive grid-editing tools for easy adjustments to model geometry.
