Geosoft announces new Education Program for its Oasis montaj software

New program improves accessibility to Geosoft software for use in research and teaching

March 21, 2006 – Toronto, Ontario Geosoft Inc., a leading provider of software solutions for the geosciences industry, today announced a new Education Program for its Oasis montaj and Target for ArcGIS earth data mapping and processing software. Developed in partnership with Northwest Geophysical Associates (NGA), this new program includes NGA's leading GM-SYS and GM-SYS 3D gravity and magnetics modeling software.

Geosoft software is used within geoscience education and research programs worldwide to support the study of geophysics, geology and geochemistry. The software's powerful range of functionality, flexibility and ease-of-use, and its international use across mining, oil and gas, government and environmental industry applications makes Geosoft ideal for use in classroom teaching and research projects.

"Educators have expressed strong interest in using Geosoft for their teaching and research projects," said Louis Racic, Industry Product Manager, Geosoft Inc., "and with this new program, we're addressing their challenge of delivering innovative, quality educational programs under strict budgetary constraints. The Education Program will enable educators to access the latest technology, provide their students with valuable exposure to industry-standard software, and maintain current software versions at affordable prices."

Geosoft's Education Program offers a variety of licensing options to meet the needs of educational institutions and non-profit research organizations, including: Education License Kits for classroom teaching and Research Licenses for both basic and advanced research project needs. Geosoft's educational products have been configured, and priced, to deliver excellent value for research and teaching use. More detailed product information is available on the Geosoft website, www.geosoft.com.

"Geosoft's new Education Program demonstrates strong commitment to supporting education of the next generation of geoscientists, and for providing educational institutions with a cost-effective option to use state of the art tools in our research endeavours," said Dr. Dennis Harry, Associate Professor of Geophysics, Colorado State University.

"Geosoft software gives me a tremendous advantage in my classes because students can quickly try out various filtering options and modeling choices. The intuitive interface provided within Geosoft's Oasis montaj software allows me to focus on the science and engineering problems in my classes instead of spending time on software training," said Dr. Harry. "Geosoft also allows us to maximize input from the geologists and engineers and to quickly examine alternative hypotheses. At Colorado State University, we have found this interdisciplinary approach, which is a built-in feature of Geosoft software, to be invaluable."
