Geosoft releases 6.2 software update

Major Releases for Oasis montaj and Target

May 27, 2005 - Toronto, ON - Geosoft has today released its 6.2 software update. This is a major release for Oasis montaj and Target that includes 3D Voxel visualization, support of common mine planning system formats and Unicode™ multi-language support.

Geosoft has enhanced its three dimensional visualization technology in response to growing requirements to represent and visualize surface and subsurface 3D data.

The need to import and export data in the correct spatial context is paramount and the Geosoft application environment will support and further enhance the ability in which geoscientists can understand, validate and eventually migrate their data into production-oriented applications.

Increased support for mine planning data formats address the exploration market’s need for improved data flow from exploration through to pre-feasibility and mine planning environments.

Oasis montaj and Target 6.2 Update

The 6.2 update incorporates the following:

• Support for the Unicode libraries from Microsoft and other third party libraries, providing the ability to use any language or character set/code for filenames, GDB text strings, map layers and map labels.
• Ability to create 3D Voxel Models using the 3D Kriging gridding method. The ability to import GOCAD and UBC 3D Model and MSH files has also been added. Geosoft Voxel files can also be exported to GOCAD and UBC files.
• Enhanced 3D support, including 3D DXF Import and the ability to use Vertical Exaggeration in 3D views. DXF import has been improved to better retain the line and text attributes of the DXF file.

Additionally, in Target and the montaj Drillhole extension, Geosoft has added the ability to import and export Surpac files, and added export of project data to a Surpac Geological Database.
