Geoscientists can use GMSYS-3D to quickly build three dimensional, "grid-based" earth models and calculate the gravity and magnetic response of their model. Users can plot 3D displays of the entire model in one simple step while retaining control over each element in the 3D visualization. Layer parameters may be defined as constants, laterally-varying grids, or vertical (i.e., density/depth) functions. Interactive grid editing utilities provide tools to easily modify model structure in the forward mode. "Three dimensional modeling software is increasingly used to further understanding and reduce risk in the exploration field," said Tim Dobush, CEO, Geosoft Inc. Geoscientists can easily add constraints from wells, outcrops, seismic horizons, or other external information to their 3D model visualizations. GMSYS-3D runs as an application within the Geosoft Oasis montaj environment utilizing the power of the Oasis 3D visualization, filtering, and plotting capabilities. The use of Oasis montaj's highly efficient memory management means there is no limit to the size or number of grids used in GMSYS-3D models. GMSYS-3D is fully compatible with NGA's popular 2D modeling package GM-SYS Profile. The GMSYS-3D software is ideally suited for gravity stripping, base of salt inversion, and 3D basement modeling. The use of specialized three-dimensional modeling software, for prospect modeling of salt bodies, can help to reduce risk in areas such as potential field exploration.
