Use of different velocity data and their application to gravity modeling

Velocity measurements are available from a variety of sources, including well surveys (e.g. sonic log, vertical seismic profiling), velocity analysis (from seismic processing, e.g. stacking velocities, from seismic interpretation and well correlation, e.g. interval velocities), global crustal databases. Geophysics
Geophysics provides a range of filters and statistical tools for working with large-volume geophysical data. A variety of geostatistical tools provide the ability for summary and advanced statistics, including histogram, scatter and triplot analysis, and the ability to subset data based on code or map group classification.
MAGMAP Filtering
MAGMAP rapidly processes and enhances gridded datasets by applying a wide range of robust geophysical and mathematical filters. You can define your own filters with interactive preview, modify the filter specific parameters and apply any number of filters together in a single operation.
Gravity/Magnetic Interpretation
This suite of powerful tools for 3D analysis of magnetic and gravity grids including Euler 3D deconvolution, source parameter imaging, and source edge detection to automatically locate and determine source depths and geometries.
P-DEPTH: Profile Depth to Basement
Profile Depth to Basement provides an automated method for determining the position (i.e., distance along the profile and depth), dip and intensity (e.g., susceptibility) of magnetic source bodies from a magnetic profile. Large distinct density contrasts can also be used on gravity profiles to determine the position of gravity source bodies.

Analysis and visualization
With the gridding, filtering, modeling, depth-to-basement, and other capabilities you can optimize your analysis and visualization of gravity and magnetic data and integrate this information with interpretations derived from geologic, seismic and other data. As a result, you maximize the accuracy of your final interpretations and minimize the number of potential prospects that require expensive exploration methods such as seismic reflection or drilling.
Seismic Data Integration
A built in SEG-Y Reader enables the integration of seismic data in SEG-Y format with Oasis montaj geospatial data and GM-SYS Profile and GMSYS-3D gravity and magnetic models. The SEG-Y Reader converts 2D SEG-Y data into bitmaps, Oasis montaj grids or databases and 3D SEG-Y data into 3D Grids or databases. Explorers can insert the bitmaps and 2D or 3D Grids into GM-SYS Profile Modeling, GMSYS-3D Modeling, and Oasis montaj. In addition, the SEG-Y Reader can accept trace coordinates from either a trace header or a separate navigation file. When creating a seismic bitmap or grid, the 2D SEG-Y data may be automatically projected on to a vertical plane (e.g. GM-SYS cross section).

With version 7.0, Geosoft has embedded ESRI ArcEngine into Oasis montaj, enabling geoscientists to use ESRI tools to natively display Arc .mxd and .lyr files, without leaving the Geosoft environment. ArcGIS and Geosoft users can share their files seamlessly and spend more time collaborating.

Powerful three dimensional insight with GM-SYS 3D Modeling
Geosoft GMSYS 3D application is integrated with, and fully exploits, the three-dimensional visualization capabilities of Oasis montaj. Geoscientists can use the software to plot three dimensional displays of the entire model in one simple step, while retaining control over each element in the three-dimensional visualization. The three-dimensional visualizations update automatically during inversion and structure editing. Geosocientists can also add wells, seismic sections or volumes, or other vector or raster information to their three-dimensional model visualizations.
Joint Inversion
Explorers can take full advantage of all their potential field data with Full Tensor Gravity Gradient Joint Inversion. They can jointly use any combination of the gravity gradient tensor components plus magnetic and normal gravity to constrain the inversion. Explorers can specify weighting factors for each of the eight possible data constraints. The RMS mis-fit is displayed at each step so that users can monitor the progress of the inversion and stop it at any time.

GM-SYS Profile Modeling is the industry-leading interactive gravity and magnetic profile modeling program that enables users to create a geologic model of the subsurface and integrate seismic, well, and geology data with observed gravity and magnetic measurements.
Time to Depth
Explorers can load seismic time sections, build models in time using all of the GMSYS tools, assign velocities, and convert the time model to a depth model. The cursor tracks between the time and depth windows so that changes made in one window are immediately reflected in the other window
