On November 8th, the Toronto Geological Discussion Group is hosting a half day symposium where some of the sector’s leading minds will be looking into their crystal balls, trying to summon a picture of what the future might hold for exploration and mining in Canada.
Featured speakers include Pam Sangster with the Ministry of Northern Development Mines and Forestry, Goldcorp’s Director of Exploration Rob Penczak, and HudBay Minerals’ Chief Exploration Geologist Kelly Gilmore, among other luminaries. Topics range from the future of gold and base metal exploration, and related innovations in that field, to an overview of commodity and equity markets.
In the spirit of the symposium’s title (So you think you can be a geologist ..next year? The future of exploration and mining in Canada), students will be admitted free of charge and can follow up with industry participants at a networking session following the talks.
Geosoft is proud to be a corporate sponsor of the TGDG's 2012-2013 Program. Since 1945, the TGDG has organized special events and speakers for geologists, mining engineers, mining analysts and students. Most talks are related to advancement of mining properties and cover mostly early and near-development stage projects. The emphasis is on geology, new deposit models and the application of exploration techniques.
