Why use gravity and magnetics modelling? This presentation focuses on a petroleum exploration problem and outlines an approach to solving an interpretation problem by following a  holistic data review; including data processing, data synthesis and modelling. We demonstrate the process to build a simple gravity model to guide deeper, noisy seismic interpretation of a problem seismic facies in a potential petroleum prospect in Turkana Region in Northwest Kenya.

About the Presenter

Andrew Long has a B.Sc. in Geology with Geophysics and an MSc. In Petroleum Geophysics from Imperial College, University of London. Previous to his time at Geosoft, Andrew has worked as a consultant geophysicist in the oil service industry, and for three years had been working for Geosoft Europe Ltd. in technical support and providing training, before moving to our Geosoft Africa (Pty) Ltd. office in January 2011 to provide his geophysical services to the Africa region.
