Recent Advances in 3D Potential Field Inversion Abstract
Inversion of geophysical data is known to significantly improve exploration success: however, inversion has a history of being a collection of cumbersome academic tools. In the real world, exploration must be an efficient and effective process; that means the inversion itself must become efficient and effective. We present three ways to improve real world inversion:, Magnetic Vector Inversion (MVI) Cartesian cut cell methods (CCC), and Iterative Reweighting Inversion (IRI). All three of these advances require little or no effort from the interpreter, but significantly improve exploration outcomes.
