Marine Geophysics: Simplifying seabed site investigation with magnetic data
This presentation summarizes magnetometer technologies used for marine work to detect buried unexploded ordnance (UXO) in a variety of marine environments. It also discusses the data processing workflow and specialized tools for comprehensive processing and analysis of magnetic data to accurately locate and classify underwater cables, pipelines, and unexploded ordnance (UXO). We identify some challenges associated with accurately interpreting marine magnetic data and highlight differences between using single or gradient magnetometers.Using magnetic data combined with new processing and analysis workflows, consultants and surveyors now have the ability to carry out rapid data processing to detect and analyze targets for effective marine site investigation surveys with a greater confidence in the results, reducing the risk of re-acquiring data or missing UXO targets.
