Geosoft’s 20th Anniversary contest is now closed.

Congratulations to our Geosoft Software Contest Winners!

December Contest Winner
Jorma Palmén, Pöyry Environment Ltd, Environmental consulting, Finland

“I work as a head geologist in Pöyry Environment Ltd., Finland. We use the Oasis Montaj software for geophysical processing and interpretations, and to tie together various geophysical indicators with features of structural geology and GIS in exploration and rock construction projects. We apply several application platforms from drillhole data management to map and borehole interpretations and seismic processing; and manage the results, features and objects in GIS and in 3D with mining and design software, carrying also own software development.“

November Contest Winner
Andy Gabell, Canadian Micro Gravity, Perth, Australia

“We are the exclusive supplier of the GT-1A mobile gravimeter outside of Russia. Over the last 3 years we have built our data processing system around Oasis Montaj, using GX Developer to integrate our proprietary code with the general processing capability that Oasis Montaj offers.“

October Contest Winner
Ricardo Barros Lourenço, student of UNICAMP, Ensino\Pesquisa, Brasil

“I’m intending to use Oasis montaj with GMSYS-3D, in my college's final work, for achieving a Bs degree in Geology, using those tools for full processing and modelling, of geophysical (logging and seismic) and hydrogeological data. In future I intend to act as a consultant in Geotechnologies, and I believe that this software will have a huge influence on my future indications of solutions and processing methods\ tools.“

September Contest Winner
Trevor Allen, Geologist, Flin Flon, Manitoba, Canada

“I am a geologist working for Hudson's Bay Mining and Smelting Co. in Flin Flon, Manitoba, Canada. We plan on using the Oasis Montaj software for delineating magnetic anomaly maps to help direct future drilling efforts on defined and pospective VMS targets.“

August Contest Winner
Elías Kassabji, PDVSA, Petroleos de Venezuela, Venezuela

“I use GIS to carry out thematic maps related to the petroleum industry. I am interested in new applications like Target for ArcGIS for its ability to affect business performance.“*

July Contest Winner
Daniel Feuer, Geologist, NAEVA Geophysics, Inc., USA

“Our Company, NAEVA Geophysics, specializes in UXO, UST, and utility detection.

We use Oasis Montaj for processing EM and magnetic data to identify potential UXO and UST targets as well as delineating large subsurface features associated with landfills, contamination, and building foundations in support of environmental and engineering assessments.  We have chosen to go with an additional copy of Oasis Montaj to further expand our capacity for EM and magnetic data processing and presentation.“

June Contest Winner
Brian Main, VP Business Development, Gedex Inc., Canada

“Our company, Gedex, will be testing our airborne gravity gradiometer with a target resolution of 1 Eotvos at one sample per second next year. With the improved resolution we will be working with clients in both mineral and oil and gas exploration.

We chose Oasis Montaj for processing airborne gravity gradiometer line data, gridding and applying 2D FFT spatial filters to produce industry standard maps. We are also thinking of using the GX developer programming kit to write our own system specific data processing codes.“

May Contest Winner
Georges Belcourt, Geophysicist and Operations Manager, Aurora Geosciences Ltd., Canada

“Our company conducts and manages geophysical and geological exploration programs across northern North America for base and precious metals as well as kimberlites. We also conduct many types of geotechnical studies.

We have chosen another Oasis montaj license to enable us to streamline our field data processing and presentation services. We have used Oasis through its many iterations since the late-eighties and have been very satisfied with the various Geosoft products, and especially their service and support.“

April Contest Winner
Ville Sipola, Geophysicist, Suomen Malmi Oy (SMOY), Finland

“We've chosen to have another copy of Oasis Montaj. As a contracting company, we offer a wide range of different measurements. Our clients operate for instance in the fields of ore exploration and geotechnology.
We use Oasis montaj for visualising and making maps of the results of various geophysical measurements. We also use it for data processing, for doing data format conversions and integrating different data together.“

March Contest Winner
Bethiah Hall, Geothermal Program Office (Dept of Navy), Energy Industry, USA

“I have chosen Geosoft's Target for ArcGIS to expand the subsurface reservoir modeling we're doing in ArcView. We have primarily used Geosoft software in the past for potential field geophysical processing. I have been very impressed with the capabilities of Oasis Montaj and the geophysics extensions and look forward to expanding our use of Geosoft products.“

February Contest Winner
Renato Cordani, Associate Director, Reconsult, Brazil

“Our company, Reconsult, carries out services regarding acquisition, processing and geophysics data interpretation. One of our main tools of usage is Oasis montaj. The majority of our work is aimed at Exploration and Airbone companies. The license that I won in this contest, will be used mainly in field work, increasing the data processing capacity in our company.“
